1. What is PCI (Angioplasty)?
PCI stands for Percutaneous Coronary Intervention. It is a minimally invasive procedure designed to clear blockages in the coronary arteries.

Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO): Treating arteries that have been 100% blocked for three months or longer.

Severely Calcified Lesions: Artery walls that have become hardened with calcium deposits, requiring "drilling" or "shaking" tools to break up the shell.

Bifurcation Lesions: Blockages located specifically where an artery branches into two directions.

Left Main Disease: Treating the "Left Main" artery—the heart's primary "trunk" that supplies blood to the majority of the heart muscle.
3. What is CHIP PCI?
CHIP stands for Complex Higher-Risk (and Indicated) Patients. This represents the highest tier of interventional care, where the patient’s overall health makes the procedure particularly challenging.

A patient may be classified as CHIP if they have:

Severe Heart Weakness: A very low ejection fraction (pumping power).

Multi-Vessel Disease: Blockages across several different arteries.

Co-existing Conditions: Such as advanced kidney disease, frailty due to age, or previous failed surgeries.
